Mission Codename Rock 'n' Knoll
Interesting fact #1: Some cats are actually allergic to humans. Interesting fact #2: We haven’t offered a Ty Caton Cab since January of this year!
Absurd. Nutty. Shameful, even? But we’re making it right today with a fresh drop from his collectible Cabernet Collection. Just a shade over 50% OFF and under $30?! That’s simply MENTAL!
By now, most of you know the style Ty brings to the table. For years we’ve offered his wines, and they are consistently the most popular and re-requested. He has his gas pedal stuck at WOT (wide open throttle) and that’s just how he makes his wines. So, if big bad, hulking Cabernet is in your wheelhouse, park a few of these in your Locker, stat.
Ty makes most of these dead-serious Cabs from his storied estate hillside vineyard high atop the Mayacamas range in the Moon Mountain District. His Cabernet Collection is extremely focused and small, with just 2-8 barrels total production for each one. He focuses on specific blocks within his vineyards - these are essentially vineyard designates within vineyard designates, designed to showcase the unique character of each microclimate, clone, and its distinctive terroir. Frankly, if these came from the Napa side of the mountain, the prices would be 2-3x as high!
This one is just a baby, freshly released. Hailing from Moon Mountain in Sonoma, one of the few areas in Sonoma on the Mayacamas range that Napa more often gets credit for. But it slaps all the notes you want - ultra-rich, extracted, dense, and chewy. Blackcurrant, blackberry, plum jam, cherry cordials, and exotic spicy woods are all packed in there. Totally, utterly hedonistic, rock and roller, coat ‘yer molars stuff.
Ty’s Cabs go fast. So, uh…why are you still reading this?
