Mission Codename Dust on the bramble
Did you snag some of the Morisoli Cabernet? We wish there were more to last, but in its place, we have another showstopper from the same famous vineyard. A spectacular Zinfandel, and this time at an even larger 44% discount.
For more than 25 years Elyse has made a Zinfandel from Morisoli Vineyard. And since 1988 they’ve had an exclusive lock on those grapes. No other producer lays claim to this precious Zinfandel fruit with the oldest vines still going strong since 1902. It’s crafted from a field blend of vines and Elyse describes it as one of the last and best examples of “mixed black” wines left in Napa Valley.
It explodes with EVERYTHING we want - rich and decadent, but not syrupy. Simply packed with ripe red and black fruit. We’re talking raspberry ganache, red plums, black currant, and blueberry jam. A dusting of earth, white pepper, and sweet cocoa, plus some cinnamon/nutmeg baking spice punch up the complexity. It all flows across the palate with a plush mouth-filling texture. And you get those telltale dusty tannins that Rutherford is so known for. All that for $25? Unbelievable.
You can look long and hard for a better Zinfandel at this price. Will you find one? Maybe… but most likely not.
