Mission Codename The Wine Bunny
Stuck at home on this precious Easter Sunday? We got you covered dear Operative! How about a virtual wine hunt with a Treasure Hunter? Keep the spirit of Easter alive with this gorgeous, 100% pure Alexander Valley Cabernet find under $20! We’re talking names like Silver Oak, Jordan, Vérité here and the quality you find in this is no less, guaranteed. This beauty is brought to us by a perennial favorite Kitfox Vineyards, by now famous for WIA-winning, jaw-dropping values…
Bright, deep crimson with medium density, surrounded by a narrow ruby cloak and purple highlights. Generous on the nose, and quite inviting with blackberry, ripe plum, cherry, herbs, black olives, and freshly cracked pepper nuances. Notably elegant and refined once sipped, and polished with a core of fresh and lively dark berries wrapping the fine tannins. It’s beginning to soften in its development trajectory, pushing forth a balanced smoothness through fine depth and richness on a firm, long finale. At a perfect spot for drinkability today actually, this superb Cabernet with an unreal price is ready to enhance a lavish spread of hard aged cheeses and charcuterie.
Last year we sat down with Kitfox and asked them to tell us all that they could about their unique wine business. Here’s what they told us: “Sure. So Treasure Hunter is just that. We seek out small lots of wine from the best producers making the right wines from the right AVAs. We taste literally 100’s of wines before we typically select one. We have been doing this for 10 years so we have contacts that no one else has. We buy finished wine from the winery and bring it in and bottle it. Any Treasure Hunter wine would normally sell for 3-8 times in its native brand. We aren’t allowed to disclose who we get the wines from as we are NDA and don’t want to hurt their reputation anyway. We are honored to be able to get the wine at a great price and turn it around at a great price. Each release is a one-time thing. When it is gone, it is gone. We focus on sub-ava wines from California and Washington State. We’ve released a wine that would normally cost $350 for $50 a bottle. Just recently we released a wine that is normally $130 a bottle for $25 a bottle. How are we able to get them? We pay cash and we don’t tell anyone where we get them. There is often excess wine due to the fact that the wineries want to run out quickly (demand by scarcity). There are lots of other reasons as well, maybe there was a divorce, maybe they don’t have any more tank space, maybe they need the capital for improvements. Each wine has its own story. We can’t tell you where the wines came from, but they are from the best producers in the state. Promise!”
Buy at least a case, ideally more while it lasts, is all we can add at this point, this is a tremendous bargain so raise a glass to The Wine Bunny and HUNT THE DAY AWAY!
