Mission Codename 98 out of 10
It is with great honor that we feature our first WIA Cabernet from one of the greatest vintages yet of the century, yes, the one you, and we, just can’t get enough of, 2010!
We struck gold with this wine, Operatives! Dark garnet gold.
Young Ridge is one of our most popular wineries (their 2012 Cab was our best-selling Cabernet of 2018!), so when they offered us special access to their small cache of 2010 Premium Estate Napa Valley Cabernet, we grabbed as much as they’d let us have, then we went back and they spared a tiny bit more. For WIA Awards we begged and pleaded for just a few more cases out of the deepest corners of their extensive library.
Remember, the 2010 Napa Cabernet vintage received a whopping 98 point score. 10s are increasingly rare, so don’t dally. Grab some more today.
This perfectly aged beauty has held its color brilliantly with deep garnet spreading out to vibrant maroon at the edge. This 2010 Cab is expressing all of the beautiful notes that only come from a perfectly aged wine including rich leather, dark chocolate, mahogany, cherry compote, and allspice. The flavor profile is equally rich and nuanced with violets, pipe tobacco, sandalwood, and smoked cherries. Flavors such as hazelnut only arise from the aging process. This wine is so smooth, the tannins glide over the palate and coat your mouth so evenly, that even the most jaded wine enthusiast will be blown away. Young Ridge’s ability to produce age-worthy wines astounds us. New York Strip. Top Sirloin. Filet Mignon. T-bone. It doesn’t matter what type. Put a steak on a plate and you’ll be happy.
Winemaker Julianna Beckmann Gosling started her winemaking career as an intern at Robert Mondavi Winery, and after graduating from the University of California at Davis, she worked at both Beaulieu Vineyard and Sterling Vineyards. Today Julianna oversees all aspects of the winemaking process, shepherding the wines through from vineyard to bottle.
The 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon vintage won a nearly unbeatable 98 point score by Wine Spectator Magazine’s editor in chief, James Laube. Others in the wine press heralded the vintage one of the best on record - in more than a decade. We wholeheartedly agree. Today’s wine is one of the final 2010s - at the best price you’ll find!
