Mission Codename Très Supérieur
Perfect Provenance, is defined as; “a record of ownership of a work of art, used as a guide to authenticity or quality” and this Bordeaux has it all, and just landed directly from the prestigious Château itself. The close relationship also comes with incredible savings, at 50% OFF its release price and with a seemingly endless array of accolades! A splendid example from the most prestigious genre of French reds.
Black as a moonless night in the center, with a carmine glow on the edges. Big, bold, black cherries macerated in cinnamon lead the intense nose, with a mineral undertone. Chocolatey blackberries and cassis, with nuances of charming torrefaction defining the palate. Complex on the expressively long finale, with deftly balanced acidity and tannin. We suggest pairing this ‘Grand Vin’ with mature hard cheeses, or a regional specialty like Entrecôte à la Bordelaise, which is a Bordeaux-style boneless ribeye steak.
The 2015 vintage in Bordeaux is up there with the very best in this century thus far (rated 97 points by Wine Spectator). Most of the big guns from 2015 have long taken their place in top private cellars and restaurants worldwide. Finding an incredible hidden value from 2015 still available is akin to a needle in the haystack. While it was hard to make anything less than really good wine in 2015 in Bordeaux, those that pay attention to the vineyard, like Peyfaures, truly excelled. If this triple 90 points under the radar Bordeaux gem came from the Right Bank, it would have been long sold out!

Gold Medal – Bordeaux Wine Awards
90 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate “To sum it up, 2015 is a great Bordeaux vintage that is going to give a lot of pleasure. There are bargains to be found on the lower rungs of the hierarchy, lest we forget that Bordeaux remains one of the best value regions on the planet if you seek carefully at Cru Bourgeois level, or the satellite appellations… My final word is this: go seek the 2015s, choose wisely and you will have no regrets. The 2015 Peyfaures is medium garnet-purple colored with earthy, meaty, gamey notions over a core of warm plums and cassis plus a waft of mossy bark. Medium to full-bodied with plenty of savory and black fruit flavors nicely offset by chewy tannins and just enough freshness, it finishes on a mineral note.”
90 Points – James Suckling “Crushed violets and plenty of toasty oak spices here. This has a lightly earthy note and hints of coal smoke, too. The palate’s smoothly cut and has plenty of depth and richness. Quite plush and very fleshy. Drink or hold.”
90 Points – Wine Enthusiast “A full and rich wine, this is concentrated in black fruit tones and balanced by structured tannins. Ripe and juicy in feel, it has layers of spice from the wood aging and intense acidity. This powerful wine needs to age; drink from 2021.”
