Vineyard Notes
Our vineyards border the Sonoma Carneros and Sonoma Coast AVA’s which makes this cool climate Syrah more reminiscent of the Northern Rhone. The Vineyards day to night temperatures vary by up to 40 degrees F which is ideal for gradual and consistent grape ripening.
Planted in 1998 with FPMS Clone 1 on SO4 and 101-14 rootstock, this 3.4-acre vineyard produces a cool-climate Syrah. Ned Hill’s dry-farming, pruning techniques and biodynamic vineyard management practices result in low yields of less than 1.5 tons per acre. The vineyard is certified organic by CCOF.
