THE VINEYARDS:

Grown in the northeast section of the Russian River Valley, this Cabernet Franc is located in the sub-appellation of Chalk Hill. These grapes are exposed to warmer days and cool nights on our family’s Los Amigos Ranch, just south of Healdsburg. The unique weather of this area allows our Bordeaux varietals to ripen slowly and develop rich, complex flavors.

THE GROWING SEASON:

For Sonoma County and Chalk Hill AVA, 2015 was the 4th year of drought cycle that was broken emphatically by heavy rains. The growing season got off to a shockingly early start, ahead of both 2013 and 2014. Low yields give the 2015s remarkably dense, plush fruit. At the same time, the wines have generally retained extraordinary freshness and aromatic presence. You can’t detract from the extraordinary quality and profound beauty of the finest in this vintage. The best examples are rich and unctuous wines.

THE WINE:

Our Cabernet Franc displays deep hues of magenta, while fragrant spices integrate evenly with red currants, vanilla and a hint of dried tobacco. Even bodied throughout, it shows a complex fusion of wild berries, ripe cherry and light sage, lending itself to a smooth, lingering finish of light olive and anise. Ready to enjoy now or cellar for additional development.
