Tasting Notes The 2013 ICON displays alluring blackberry, mulberry, and blueberry with exciting hints of anise and pie spice. Lively and weighty, this wine has wonderful tannins and texture, offering structure and grip without being aggressive. Its generous finish is a blend of fruit and spice that carries on long after the wine has left your mouth. 33% Zinfandel, 33% Petite Sirah, 26% Carignane, 8% Alicante
Vineyard Notes In the early 1850’s the first significant vineyards were planted in Sonoma. Over the next half century, the components of “California claret” were narrowed to four distinct varieties—Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Carignane, and Alicante Bouschet — each demonstrating extraordinary quality. Ravenswood’s ICON is a revival of this traditional native Sonoma Mixed Blacks blend produced from old, low-production vineyards planted before Prohibition, and is a tribute to Sonoma County’s incredible ancient vines.
