Mission Codename Sip me, wear me
We have the ultimate cure for beating the heat and thirst Operatives, today, a musky proposition nonetheless. Musqué, as in perfume-y to the point of a nuclear, glass-shattering aromatic explosion! Coming from a Wine Spies favorite young and tiny winery, led by Christian Christiansen, that has earned nearly a dozen 90+ point scores since its inception in 2011. Christian Christiansen has been garnering so much respect, so much praise, from the wine press and from wine enthusiasts alike. We’re enthralled to be sharing this special, steal of a deal with you, even if for a single day.
Bright lemon with golden highlights embellishing the crystalline appearance. Loads of intense sliced-lime, grapefruit zest, pineapple, mineral, and cream on the nose that pushes the aromatic envelope. The palate reveals a revolutionary style, saline and smoky while intense fruit coats the mouth. Shows skin contact character on the nearly full-bodied, bright and long finish. The very first pairing idea that pops upon the initial sniff is oysters! Briny and raw or decadently Rockefeller, at least a dozen per person.
Musqué, according to the Oxford Companion of Wine is a French term meaning both ‘perfumed’, as in musky, and ‘Muscat-like’. Many varieties have a Musqué mutation which is particularly aromatic and may add to the variety’s own characteristics a grapey scent reminiscent of Muscat. If this was bottled in tiny flacons, it would be sold out at Sephora!
Here’s what the wine press has to say.
90 Points - Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast - “Savory aromas and flavors like fennel bulb, snap pea and cucumber make this medium-bodied wine stand out. It has a good, crisp dash of acidity for balance and excellent fruit concentration that unfolds on the palate.”
