Mission Codename If You're So Inclined...
Cabernet is king and for good reason. There’s no other grape that can deliver the same incredible complexity and ageability. If you’re sick of “hedonistic fruit bombs” and instead like your Cabernet Sauvignon to be all about structure, earth, and elegant tannin, then today’s wine is not to be missed. Bugay Vineyards delivered the goods in 2008 and now you can take home this wine, which has been aged to perfection, for 50% off - that’s a steal!
This wine has a rich garnet hue with an inky dark core that is consistent from edge to edge. The wine has a subdued yet rich nose of plum and rhubarb compote with earth and barrel spice. The flavors that spread across the palate remind one of tobacco, allspice, currant, fig, and peppercorn. This wine is very well structured, with grippy tannin that supports a complex acidity that holds your interest, along with a characteristic long finish. It is a quintessential “food” wine and ought to be paired with a heavy pasta dish such as fettuccine with a cream-based tomato sauce.
Earlier this year we featured one of their 2007 wines. In fact, that wine was recognized as our Top Library Selection of 2017. We have the feeling that today’s wine will win our 2018 award.
Enjoy!
