Aromatics of sweet red cherry and blueberry, vibrant florals of violet and lavender, dried herbs, smoked meat and a touch of black licorice provide an array of glass filling layers to tantalize the senses. The wine hits the palate, showy and strong, rich and lively with dark cherry, blueberry and savory notes of licorice, smoked meat and lavender with hints of barrel spice to invigorate the taste buds.

A terrific full-bodied texture with expressive sensational purity, the finish lingers, palate coating and beautifully balanced. This rich, powerful and dramatic 100% Syrah should be paired with the biggest steaks you can find in its youth, but with age will become even more layered and complex.

Vineyard Notes

The twenty-one acre Grigsby Vineyard is located just minutes from the Cornerstone Cellars tasting room in Yountville. Of those acres, just two and a half are Syrah. From these few vines comes our first wine from the Yountville AVA and our first White Label wine from a Rhône variety. While in the Yountville AVA, the Grigsby Vineyard is literally just across the street from the Stag’s Leap AVA and, to us, shares more in common with that AVA than Yountville.
