Mission Codename Mozzafiato!
Superstar wines like today’s Antica Napa Valley 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon achieve Superstar status for good reason… they’re extraordinary! When we sold the previous vintage of this wine at just 10% off, we sold out within hours. We expect similar results for today’s special wine, so please don’t dally…
In the glass, this Cabernet reveals itself to be a dark garnet at the center with a brighter lip of maroon. Right away, you’re greeted with a clean, fragrant and fruit-forward nose with seductive aromas of boysenberry, dried roses, dusty bramble, jasmine, and spice. The palate is equally pleasant with flavors of red cherry, pipe tobacco, red plum, wild strawberry, and allspice. Absolutely perfectly balanced with a full, round mouthfeel, it has soft yet powerful tannins that coerce your tastebuds into bliss. Such a well-crafted wine can be paired with practically anything, but you can never go wrong with roast chicken and veggies!
630 Years of Winemaking Excellence
The Antinori’s family’s winemaking history has been synonymous with the famed wine growing regions of Tuscany and Umbria since its inception more than six centuries ago, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori entered the “Arte Fiorentina,” the Winemakers’ Guild of Florence, in 1385.
Today, the Antinori legacy is overseen by Piero Antinori and this three daughters, Albiera, Allegra, and Alessia. Together, they oversee one of the largest wine companies in Italy, and their innovations played a large part in the “Super-Tuscan” revolution of the 1970s. Antinori is a member of the Primum Familiae Vini. The company is the 10th oldest family-owned company in the world!
Cheers!!
Here’s what the wine press has to say.
93 points - James Suckling - “Aromas of currants and blueberries with hints of dark chocolate. Medium to full body, round tannins and a savory finish. Drink or hold.”
92 points - Wilfred Wong/wine.com - “Displaying a look and feel of elegance, the lively and energetic 2014 Antica by Antinori Family Estate Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits bright red and black currants, with a dusting of earthiness in its aromas and flavors. The wine’s perky finish pairs it superbly with wild game, free-range poultry, and lightly-grilled ribeye.”
90 points - Decanter - “A 4,000 case cuvée from the Antinori family’s extensive holdings in Atlas Peak. Antica’s Cabernet reveals notes of juicy berry fruit framed by creamy new oak and warm spice. It’s a powerful, ripe wine but with good acidity and energy in this genre.”
