Mission Codename The Jury is... IN
When a wine drinks well above its price category, it is said to have a high Quality to Price Ratio or QPR. Today’s Jury Cellars 2016 “Trial Red” Napa Valley Red Blend has a particularly high QPR, which makes it a super great value for your money. This balanced, delicious wine impressed our entire tasting panel. Especially given the low price of this delicious surprise.
Bright ruby at the heart, bright ruby at the outer rim. This Napa blend is like a precious gem in the glass. With a candied fruit nose of cola and hibiscus, the more familiar fruit aromas of cherry, strawberry, and raspberry fit right in. The palate counterbalances the nose, offering more gravitas with dark fruit flavors of cassis, black currant, plum preserves with a vanilla and holiday spice twist imparted from the oak. This wine was clearly, thoughtfully, constructed. It’s smooth and supple - all round edges from start to finish. This wine is versatile and would do well with a wide variety of foods. If we had to pick, we’d say go for French-ribbed lamb chops with a side of well-herbed fingerling potatoes.
If you’ve ever had a wine made by Spelletich Cellars’ winemaker, Barb Spelletich, you know that you are in for a real treat with this one.
