Mission Codename 35 and counting
Grab some of this wine, before it is too late. At today’s price, it won’t last long.
If you’re looking for an impressive Pinot Noir that won’t break the bank, look no further. Today’s special wine is the Anderson’s Conn Valley Vineyards 2017 35th Anniversary Napa Valley Pinot Noir. The winery is very proud of today’s wine, and we can see why… this is one delicious, complex, crowd-pleasing Pinot!
Exceptionally dense for a Pinot Noir, it has shades of garnet at the center and scarlet at the lip. The nose is simultaneously complex and approachable with notes of rhubarb, dried fig, fresh garden herbs, tilled earth, and terracotta. The savory flavors of potpourri and thyme meld with notes of redolent plum and boysenberry with a walnut twist. Ample body for a Pinot Noir, with plush tannins that compliment the aromatic and concentrate fruit, which extend onwards for a very long finish. An exceptional choice to compliment the co-pilot of Thanksgiving dinner - the honey-glazed ham.
This wine was made by winemaker Robert Hunt, who has become a real winemaker of interest for us. We’re bonafide fans, to be sure. When Robert is not making intriguing and beguiling wines at Anderson’s Conn Valley, he’s making wine at Napa’s Clos Pegase Winery. Past postings? Well, Robert has worked at ‘little’ wineries like Pine Ridge Vineyards, Colgin Cellars, Ovid Vineyards and others of note.
