Mission Codename Rex Rox
This is the first time since 2013 that we’ve had the good fortune to feature a Deerfield Zinfandel. That’s because Deerfield Zins are incredibly popular in their tasting room and with their lucky wine club members. Today, our Operatives are the lucky ones! Don’t miss out on this wonderful wine. Our allocation is pretty sizable, but we’re pretty sure it will sell out.
It’s official, Deerfield Ranch Winery is one of our Top 5 best-selling wineries off all time! Just taste today’s Deerfield Ranch 2012 Sonoma Valley Zinfandel and you’ll know why they’re so popular. This varietally-correct Zinfandel delivers everything that a great Zin should, with class and style!
This Zinfandel from Deerfield has a deep maroon core with a garnet lip. On the nose, we have a classic bouquet of blackberry, bramble, vanilla, gingerbread, and hibiscus. The delicious gingerbread and vanilla extract move to the fore on the palate, with wild brambles and raspberry supplying the fruit and allspice heating up the back end. This is what Zinfandel should taste like. It actually has more weight and structure than your average Zinfandel, that loads up the front of your palate before sliding down the center for a long finish. The Winemaker himself recommends a pairing of his family recipe, Meat, and Peppers, which is a savory stew of steak, green and red peppers, red wine and tomato sauce.
Enjoy, friends!
