Last year, we brought you Munselle’s brilliant 2013 vintage Coin Flip Ranch Chardonnay. That wine was a huge hit with your fellow Operatives. Today, we’re proud to bring you the Munselle Vineyards 2014 Coin Flip Ranch Alexander Valley Chardonnay. This wine is a creamy, silky, and balanced delight that you’ll love.
This Chardonnay has the most beautiful pale peridot color with crystalline clarity. There’s an incredible amount of aromas condensed into the nose of this Chard. Among them: apple, quince, loquat, buttercream, meatiness, and sur-lees quality. The palate has a lot going on as well with vanilla, caramelized peaches, Golden Delicious apple, persimmon, and clover honey. Chardonnay can be a balancing act and this wine masterfully walks the tightrope balancing bright acidity to drive fruit and the lactic acid to offer the rich creamy mouthfeel. Bravo! There’s nothing better than chilled Chardonnay and fresh Dungeness crab drenched in butter. This is the one for the job!
The Munselle family possesses a remarkable pedigree and great winemaking skills. Their pristine, historic Coin Flip Vineyard in the Alexander Valley is planted to noble Robert Young rootstock. This combination produces very distinctive - and very intriguing - Chardonnay.
