The Plank Walker wine is created by keeping the fundamental Bordeaux red varietals ..Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot together and blending them to become harmonious…. to work together.
The sum of the parts becoming greater than any individual part. We add a lot of love and care and spend a lot of time blending this particular wine. Sometimes we may add another red Bordeaux varietal ( Carmenere for example) just to take the wine to another level. Blending to us is the true art of great winemaking. It is important to know what to do with the wines you are blending and even more important to know what not to do. This is where the skill and talent comes in. This is how you separate yourself from other winemakers.
The goal is to create balanced, structured wines that show the wonderful flavors of great Napa Valley fruit along with carefully selected French Oak barrels that allow for harmony and proper aging.
Our wines are to be approachable and drinkable at a young age yet have enough character to age in the cellar. Plank Walker is the best representative of what we are trying to do. Staying balanced and focused, committed to grace and style, yet approaching the edge, “walking the plank” of great winemaking. That is what we do and this wine shows that we do it well.
