Last month we were proud to debut the first commercial wine from Deerfield alum, Addison Rex. Todayâs wine reinforces just how talented this young man is. Addison spent more than a decade at this family winery, Deerfield Ranch Winery, where he learned his craft from his winemaker uncle, Robert Rex, who is the owner of DeerfieldâŠ
This white blend is exceptionally light in color with a beautiful pale straw hue and crystalline clarity. Very fragrant nose of pear and apple, with a nice floral note of elderflower and a beautiful lemon-lime characteristic that compliments a subtle stonefruit note of peach. Itâs got a nice bright burst of tangerine and Granny Smith apple up front on the palate with the stone fruit showing through on the back such as nectarine and pluots with a slate mineral finish. The wine is very well structured thanks to the Chenin Blanc while the Sauvignon Blanc provides peppy acidity. It truly holds your attention more than a typical white wine all the way from the start to an exceptionally long finish. Extremely refreshing. You couldnât ask for any better pairing than a seared ahi tuna salad with a lemon poppyseed vinaigrette.
