Mission Codename No Monkeying Around
We’ve been featuring the wines of Wine Guerrilla since 2007! In that time, we’ve come to love their juicy reds - particularly their opulent Zinfandels. Today, we’re thrilled to bring you a very special deal on their 2012 Conte Vineyard Russian River Valley Zinfandel. This delicious, fruit-forward wine will thrill you!
This Zinfandel is very pretty, with a classic garnet center and a thin plum-colored lip around the edge. There’s plenty to admire on the nose with an ample bouquet of plum and blackberry compote, butterscotch, hibiscus, and vanilla. It’s got a delicious flavorful fruit-forward palate of fresh strawberry, sun-ripened blackberries, violets, honeysuckle, and boysenberry. It’s a classic medium-bodied Zinfandel, with a heavy emphasis on the big fruit driven by the alcohol, but the tannins are actually more nuanced than your average Zin. This may be a Russian River Valley Zin, but it’d be heavenly with that Central Coast staple: Tri-tip generously seasoned with Santa Maria seasoning blend.
Wine Guerrilla is a family affair, with Matt Rallia and his dad Andrew Railla overseeing daily operations at the winery. The art that adorns the wine labels on every bottle of Wine Guerrilla’s wines is painted by Miranda Byk, Andy’s daughter. The Rallia family is on a mission… To craft the finest Zinfandel (and Zin blends like today’s wine!) from California’s best Zin-growing regions.
Cheers!
