We have a new winery for our thirsty Operatives, today, the Ultra QPR (and ultra tasty) 2014 Musqué Clone Sauvignon Blanc. This young winery, led by Chris Christiansen, has earned nearly a dozen 90+ point scores since its inception in 2011. This reminds us of other onetime upstarts like Dave Phinney (Prisoner) and Josh Phelps (Taken).

Chris Christiansen has garnered so much respect, so much praise, from the wine press and from wine enthusiasts alike and we are very excited to be sharing today’s special, steal of a deal wine with you today.

Examining the wine by sight, you’ll see a light golden colored wine. It has a beautiful nose that is quite distinct from most other Sauvignon Blanc. This wine features notes of saffron, honeysuckle, with a sur lees quality, and preserved quince fruit notes. The palate is equally interesting and engaging, with fruit flavors of Golden Delicious apple and lemony citrus melding with a buttery creaminess more often found in Chardonnay, yet with a tropical fruit flavor more often found in Sauvignon Blanc. This S.B. has a bigger mouthfeel than most, with a soft and lush mouthfeel that evenly coats the palate, leading to a strong finish. This is a very intriguing wine that calls for an equally interesting meal! This wine would be fantastic with a Vietnamese pork belly and pickled vegetable banh mi sandwich.
