Mission Codename Parvati loves Shiva
Last month, we introduced you to the wines of Jigar. That wine is extraordinarily popular with our Operatives, who later wrote in to let us know just how much they loved that wine. Well, we’ve got another Jigar wine for you today, the delectable, food-fabulous 2014 North Coast Raja Cuvée.
This wine is a beautiful semi-translucent ruby heart spreading out to an almost-pink, shocking magenta lip. On the nose, you’ll find a berry-filled nose of boysenberry, raspberry, sour cherry, cranberry, topped off with pomegranate and brambles. The palate is a well-constructed mix of potpourri, baking spice, cracked pepper, fig, blackberries, again with brambles to close it out. This wine is actually quite compact and nuanced, with interesting phenolics packed onto a grippy tannin backbone. The tannin drives the spice up front and fruit at the end for a long finish! This Cuveé would pair well with roast pork loin, with wild mushrooms and forbidden rice.
Jigar Wines is a family owned, boutique winery that’s located in the heart of California’s Sonoma County Wine Country. They produce small lot wines that pay a sweet homage to the vineyards from which they source their luxury-level fruit.
Today’s blend of Syrah (52%), Merlot (22%), Petite Sirah (17%), and Cabernet Sauvignon is a budget-friendly treat that will impress and delight- without breaking the bank.

Here’s what the wine press has to say.
92 Points - Laura Harris - “This is a fun blend with bold expressions. It has a noticeable tannin structure, but they are soft and supple- not dry and dusty. It has pronounced dark fruits with hints of chocolate. Nomnom!”
