Mission Codename Eazy Does It
Zinfandel lovers know what they want when they pop that cork and RustRidge Winery does too because this Napa Valley treasure delivers the goods. At 37% off, the only complaint with this easy-drinker is that the wine in the bottle mysteriously disappears too quickly. Make sure to stock up!
This Zin has a bright crimson hue that turns a darker garnet around the lip with medium translucency. Right off the bat after taking a sniff you are greeted with a cherry melange of black maraschino cherry and bing cherry. Also to be found are aromas of plum compote, pipe tobacco and bergamot. The palate shares much of the cherry quality with black fruit such as blackberries added in with an additional spice dimension of allspice and cinnamon. The wine shows the smooth tannin that comes with aging, with an approachable, lighter body customary to Zinfandel, with a pleasant finish. If lighting up the grill has become a cliché, it’s because there’s truth in it - this wine would be perfect with flame-scorched asparagus and slightly-charred sirloin.
