Mission Codename Homegrown Backbone
Estampa is back! This time around, with their Estampa 2014 Marchigüe Estate Colchagua Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, which earned a 90 point score from Wine Enthusiast Magazine. This is high praise for the tough 2014 Colchagua vintage. Enjoy this food-friendly wine with tapas, or your favorite grilled meats.
Rich and full on the nose, with aromas of grilled black cherry, cassis, bramble, savory herbs, subtle tar, cardamom and mixed brown spice. Dark and packed with powerful flavors of black cherry, blackberry compote, bramble, coffee bean, European black licorice, mixed brown spice and savory herbs.
2014 was a tough vintage for Marchigüe in Chile’s Colchagua Valley. Yields were low due to frost, but the summer was warm, which provided excellent and even ripening, making for a complicated and excellent wine.
Of the 2014 vintage in Colchagua, Jancis Robinson said, “Widespread frost caused crop loss of up to 70%, but what remained made very good quality wine, showing plenty of concentration and complexity.”
Enjoy!

Here’s what the wine press has to say:
90 Points - Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast - ”Earthy blackberry and black-olive aromas set up a saturated, thick palate with grating tannins. Herbal blackberry, toast and coffee flavors reflect time in barrel. It’s stout and full of power and fruit on the finish. Drink through 2020.”
90 Points - Decanter World Wine Awards - “Blackberries, violets and spice notes with a hint of oak. Rounded and structured with a lovely floral character Well blend combining texture and depth.”
