This Chardonnay comes from Simone Vineyard in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. It is barrel aged sur lie and bottled without malolactic inoculation. The resulting wine has a defined depth of flavor with a bright and crisp acidity. In keeping with the Croze philosophy, the wine demonstrates exceptional balance and is priced to be an extreme value based on wine quality.
This wine is a natural with pasta and cream sauces, poultry, and soft cheeses. We also love it with fresh seafood.
Vineyard Notes
The 2014 Croze Chardonnay is another fantastic vintage from the acclaimed Simone Vineyard in The Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. This 10 acre vineyard yields 20 - 25 tons of some of the richest and most complex chardonnay grapes in California.
This is one of the few remaining mid-valley Chardonnay vineyards. It is owned and farmed by Jim Simpson, a truly gifted grower of grapes as well as fine vegetables for Napa Valley’s premier restaurants.
This is a sweet spot for Chardonnay which benefits from the “chimney effect” of San Pablo Bay. Like the French Mistrals of France’s Burgundy region, the cool breezes and morning fog provide a cooler climate, ideal for these tender grapes.
