The last time we sold a Benegas Lynch Malbec, we sold out in short order. Today we have an even better wine from Benegas, their astonishingly excellent 2013 Estate Single Vineyard Finca La Encerrada Mendoza Malbec. This wine is dense, rich and packed with rich, delicious flavors that will blow you away!
Rich and full on the nose, with dark aromas of stewed plum, grilled black cherry, blueberry jam, dried dark flower petals, sweet spice, baker’s chocolate and black pepper. Dense and rich on the palate with dark flavors of grilled blackberry, black plum, black licorice, mission fig, black currant, black olive, toasted oak and a pleasant hint of tasty tar.
This wine hails from the Valley de Uco (the Uco Valley), which is a viticultural region southwest of Mendoza, in Argentina. Located beside the Tunuyán River, the Uco Valley is universally considered one of the top wine regions in Mendoza and in all of Argentina. The annual average temperature is 57 °F and altitudes range from 3,000–5000 feet above sea level.
The region’s combination of high elevation, alluvial soils, irrigation sourced from the Andes Mountains, blesses the Uca Valley with a long growing season with over 250 sunny days a year, little rain and wide temperature differences between night and day.
These factors all provide optimal conditions for growing quality wine grapes, with excellent fruit ripening and flavor concentration, deep colors, aromas, and textures that all result in wines that are deep in color, intense in aromas and very rich in flavors.
