Mission Codename Cinsault it goes
We’re thrilled to have the newest vintage of Onesta Wines brilliant, 2012 Bechthold Vineyard Cinsault. This wine hails from the oldest vineyard in Lodi - and the oldest Cinsault vineyard in the entire world. This special wine is described by former Bonny Doon winemaker Jillian Johnson De Leon below.
This is one wine that you won’t want to stop inhaling! It exudes lively, focused aromas of Bing cherry, strawberry, pomegranate, cranberry and sweet spice, laced with sweet pie spice, soft cedar, vanilla and a hint of rhubarb. Rich, dark fruits and bright red fruits of black cherry, young blackberry, red plum, black plum, pomegranate and red currant mingle with soft spice, cedar plank, toasty oak and baker’s chocolate.
Special thanks to Onesta’s winemaker for taking the time to present our Operatives with this informative video:
So, just what is Cinsault?! Pronounced SaN-so, it is one of the 13 varieties permitted in the Chateauneuf-du-Pape region in Southern France (amazingly, there are more Cinsault vines in France than Cabernet Sauvignon vines!). One rarely finds it bottled on its own, which makes today’s wine all the more special.
Cinsault tends to produce delicious wines that have the delicate body of a Pinot and the ripe berry fruit forwardness of a Zinfandel. Today’s Onesta Wines 2012 Bechtold Vineyard Lodi Cinsault certainly embodies that combination beautifully.
We absolutely love this unique wine and we offer it to you with our very hearty recommendation.

Here’s what the wine press has to say:
91 points - Jim gordon, Wine Enthusiast - “Jammy aromas and concentrated grape and blackberry flavors pack a lot of fruitiness into this full-bodied and velvet-textured wine. The ripe and almost sweet berry and plum notes gush forth with gusto while the firm, grippy texture keeps the mouthfeel nicely dry and helps clear the palate for the next bite or sip.”
