Mission Codename Stags Reap
Today’s wine is very highly recommended.
We absolutely adore the wines of Scott Harvey, and today we have his most budget-friendly wine yet, the juicy, layered 2013 Three Stags California Red Wine. This wine is mostly made from that Amador County Zinfandel that Scott is famous for. This wine drinks well above its price class. Don’t miss out!
Complex and layered on the nose, with baked cherry apple tart, cured beef, dusty bramble, mocha, tar, boysenberry, black licorice, stewed plum and mixed brown spice. Rich fruits cling to the palate for a long time, eventually overcome by dark chocolate, dark spice, molasses, and tar, all of which leave the palate with a very pleasing coating of rich flavors.
Amador County Zinfandels are some of our favorites, and nobody does an Amador Zin better than Scott Harvey. This Zin-rich blend is one of Scott’s best QPR (Quality to Price Ratio) red blend yet.
Nestled in California’s once gold-rich Sierra Foothills, the Amador County AVA (American Viticultural Area) has been called California’s last great undiscovered wine growing region. With vineyards that date back to the 19th Century, this region is home to some of the oldest vines in the state. Today, Amador County produces some of the most deeply concentrated and intense Zinfandels (Primitivo) in the state.
