Today’s Phipps Family Cellars 2012 Treborce Vineyard Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel is simply delicious. If you love that Dry Creek Zinfandel character, this one is for you. Flavors are bold and rich, aromas leap from the glass and the finish is almost endless.

The Treborce Vineyard was planted in 1999 to St. George rootstock, which is widely recognized as one of the most revered and sought after in the world. Simi Winery, Wilson Winery, Hauch, Carol Shelton, Gunfighter and others have all made award-winning wines from this respected vineyard.

This is the 3rd Phipps vintage we’ve tasted from this wonderful vineyard - and it is a delicious doozy!

Jammy and lush on the nose, with blackberry jam, blueberry, spice box, leather, pencil shavings, toasty oak, bramble and black pepper.

Flavors burst onto the palate, with bold blackberry compote in the lead, followed by smoky blueberry, black raspberry, dried cranberry, dried fall leaves, dusty briar patch, baker’s chocolate, slate mineral, cedar and black pepper.

Enjoy this wine all on its own or with a variety of food pairings. We’ll be trying ours with BBQ ribs or a classic backyard burger. Also enjoy with more exotic fare, like Moroccan spiced kabobs or spicy grilled chicken.

Drinking beautifully now, cellar for the next few years. Highly recommended.
