A nice example of an Alexander Valley zin, full bodied with a deep ruby color and inviting aromas of black raspberry, plum, leather, herbs and black pepper. The palate is intense, yet also smooth and fruity, chewy with blackberry jam, light plum, milk chocolate, oak, and herb flavors that are balanced by minerality and acidity.
Firm but not overly tannic, the finish resolves on more of a spicy than sweet note. Classic Sonoma County Zinfandel that’s heady, but balanced.
Vineyard Notes
The 17-acre Harris Kratka Vineyard sits at the southern end of the warm Alexander Valley, bordering the Chalk Hill Appellation. Marshall Harris purchased the vineyard in 1992—and grows zinfandel, carignane and petite sirah, supplying grapes to Rosenblum, Pezzi King, DeLormier and many other prestigious wineries in Sonoma and Napa Counties.
