Mission Codename Well aloha there...
This 94-point Merlot from the Napa Valley made by Smith Devereux will have you saying “Aloha!”
Did we mention it also received a double gold medal and the coveted Best of Class distinction from the 78th Annual LA International Wine Competition?
Did we also mention it’s 46% off? Today only.
This is a Merlot with excellent color extraction - dark all the way through, and crimson from heart to edge. Here’s one of those Merlots where you keep going back for a second sniff before even taking a sip. It has a lush nose of baking spice, cassis, lavender, potpourri, and passionfruit. Wow! On the palate, you can expect developed dark fruit flavors of black cherry, pomegranate and dried fig, with molasses, anise and tobacco notes in the background. The color gave this one away - we have here a well extracted and structured wine that is complex yet well balanced. It’s firing on all cylinders including providing a graceful and long finish. This robust Merlot calls for a robust meal. Fully-loaded baked potatoes with all the toppings will do the trick.

Here’s what the wine press has to say:
94 points - Double Gold Medal, Best in Class - 2017 Los Angeles International Wine Competition (78th Annual)
Sara Schneiders, Wine Editor, Sunset Magazine - “Here’s an inky wine for those who like the cherries and in their Merlot plush and ripe! An intriguing dusty quality wraps the fruit aromas, which are layered with mocha and pepper, and on the palate, warm spices punctuate ripe black cherry fruit through a long, soft finish.”
