Mission Codename Rudy Tuesday
We offer you this silky, buttery, voluptuous Chardonnay - from one of our very favorite winemakers - with our very strongest recommendartion.
When we were offered today’s sublime Chateau Lane 2013 Berry Lane Vineyard Coombsville Chardonnay, we didn’t know who made it. As soon as we tasted it, we had to know who their winemaker was.
To our utter delight, we found that our good friend, Rudy Zuidema had crafted this extraordinary and opulent Chardonnay.
We’ve known Rudy going on about ten years now. We first fell in love with his rich mountain Cabernets, grown high atop the Napa Valley. We then got to know his ‘valley floor work’, in the form of Cabs, Zins, Cabn Francs and even the odd Syrah.
But, oh, his Chardonnay! We don’t usually bluster on about Chardonnay, but today’s wine deserves our praise, no matter how much we prattle on about our love for it.
Bright and sunny on the nose, with aromas of fresh Meyer lemon, apricot, white peach, creamed honey, pineapple and orange blossom.
A cascade of flavors glides onto the palate, with green apple, green melon, apricot, yellow peach, lemon curd, creamed honey, orange blossom, lemon and butterscotch.
