Mission Codename Forward Unto Dawn
This is one of our most popular ever Napa Cabernets. This wine was previously sold out at the winery, but they recently contacted us, saying that they miraculously found some additional cases of this superstar wine.
This is it, though. We will never see this wine again. Our allocation is modest, so please do be sure to visit with us early to reserve yours. Before we sell out.
This wine is serious and full on the nose, with blackberry juice, Santa Rosa plum, tobacco, black cherry, leather, tobacco, spice box, dark chocolate, dried violets, and subtle black pepper.
After an explosion of raspberry and young cherry, a wave of spice sends flavors of blackberry, black cherry, baker’s chocolate, dried red rose petals, cigar box, and black pepper all around the palate.
This hand-crafted, small batch, artisan wine from the skilled hands of James Scheller and Blake Griffin is a real treat of a wine - at a real bargain price!
Very highly recommended.
What the wine press has to say:
Hoby Wedler - Wine Critic“The 2011 James-Blake Cabernet Sauvignon leaps from the glass with sensational spice and fruit character. It’s still a youngster but we love it now and are excited to observe it mature and age over the next few decades.
The bouquet of the wine opens with green tea, pipe tobacco, cloves, anise, and all-spice. Huge fruit aromas of green apple, raspberry, blackberry, Bing cherry, and peach dominate. Dark dried fruit, fresh stone fruit, and dried apricot linger subtly behind the afore-mentioned fruit components.
As with all Napa Valley reds, this wine is incredibly well extracted and packs a flavor profile sure to win anyone over. Dark ripe black fig is distinctly present by flavor and acid near the front of the palate. The mid-palate is defined by ripe plum, fresh-baked Bing cherries, and star anise.
The wine finishes with brilliant lilac, cedar, and pomegranate. This wine is incredible now but it will continue to grow and we cannot wait to find out what beauty it continues to become. Drink now through 2025.”
