Here’s what the wine press has to say:
93 points - “Sommelier to the Stars” Chris Sawyer - “While there is no doubt that Pinot Noir is the most talked about red grape planted in Mendocino County’s Anderson Valley, the true brilliance of the wines made from the region are based on the unique sites where the grapes are grown.
The latest offering is the Borne 2014 Pinot Noir, a flavorful wine made with fruit from the Ferrington Vineyard near the quaint town of Booneville and a smaller percentage from the Beaujolais Vineyard West at the deeper end of the valley near the Navarro forest. The Mile Marker 33.89 mentioned on the label is the entry point to this valley from the south.
In the glass, the wine opens up with magnificent floral aromas and nuances of ripe red fruits, sassafras, forest floor, peppercorn, tangerine peel and spice. On the palate, the flavors continue to develop with lively notes of cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry, cranberry, fresh sage and clove, a vibrant burst of racy acidity, and a long rewarding finish.
With fine cuisine, try this wine with goat cheese, fresh green salads with berries, heirloom tomatoes, tuna tartare, sushi and roasted chicken. ”
