Mission Codename Lucky 77
Every year we issue our Wine Spies Intrigue Awards (the “WIAs”) to some very special wines. Here’s a stellar past winner for 2015 Operatives’ Choice: Most Requested Wine of the Year.
Who knew that driving really really fast would be such good preparation for crafting world class wines? Well, for A.J. Foyt that’s certainly proved the case, as his 2010 No. 77 Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon is one monstrously delicious Napa Cab.
This incredible and very highly recommended Cabernet Sauvignon hits all the right notes. Beautifully aromatic on the nose, with layer upon layer of fruit, spice and earth that waft from the glass.
On the palate, the flavors echo the nose almost perfectly. As you enjoy this wine, flavors accumulate in the mouth, seemingly increasing with each lush sip.
Decant, and the wine really springs to life, bringing lift to the fruit and adding elegance on the palate. Especially on the long and lingering finish.
There aren’t many cases of this wine left, so please be sure to order early and stock up!
