Mission Codename Drink it like you stole it
Today’s Robert Nenow Winery 2009 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is our Wine Spies 2016 Intrigue Awards winner for Agent Q’s Top Pick of 2016.
This wine hails from Kenefik Ranch, where Caymus, Plumpjack, Raymond wineries source for their big dollar Cabernet Sauvignon… but why spend $80 when you can have this great wine for so much less?
Here’s what Agent Q had to say about today’s wine: “Caymus makes a fantastic Cab, sure, but when you taste this Robert Nenow marvel, you’ll be blown away. This wine has it all, from rich fruit, to a plush mouthfeel and an extended finish. I’m stocking up on this one - and so should you!”
Today’s Robert Nenow Winery 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is a fantastic hidden gem that drinks well above its price class. This impressive wine will have your friends thinking you’re a high roller that spends $80+ on a bottle of Cab.
Today’s Nenow Cab is a true hidden gem of a wine that was made from fruit sourced at the Kenefik Ranch in the Calistoga AVA of the Napa Valley. This vineyard site is the picturesque home to 125 acres of ultra premium grapes. Grown here are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Marsanne and Grenache Blanc.
Heady and rich on the nose, with black cherry, raspberry, tobacco leaf, cherry bark, dark chocolate, toasted oak, black licorice, dusty bramble and black pepper.
On the palate, dark and rich, with flavors of black cherry, blackberry jam, plum, braised plum, grilled cherry, black licorice, cherry cordial, cherry bark and dark chocolate.
Kenefik sells their in-demand grapes to some of the finest wine producers in California, including Etude, Lewis Cellars, Cade-Plumpjack, Merryvale, Raymond and world-famous Caymus. These wineries know great grapes when they find them. How Robert Nenow got their hands on the same fruit remains a mystery, but we won’t question this good thing more closely. We’ll just enjoy a few succulent bottles with good friends.
I offer you this very delicious, very rich and very aromatic wine with my boldest recommendation.
