Mission Codename King Franc
We’re wild about today’s rich, lush, delicious, food-_fabulous_ Auburn James 2010 North Coast Cabernet Franc. This is one of the best Cabernet Francs we’ve ever featured, and you know how very choosy our Agent Red is about his Cab Franc.
This wine still has a few years before it peaks. Drink some now, carefully meter out the rest!
As one of our panelist Agent Brix put it, “This wine has the right balance of powerful fruit, tannin and oak. That can be so difficult to achieve in winemaking.”
We can’t agree more!
On the nose, this wine is extraordinarily aromatic, with deep, rich aromas that waft from the glass. Blackberry preserve, brown sugar, raisin, black cherry, leather, tobacco and soft, sweet spice.
An absolute explosion of flavors onto the palate, with blackberry compote, black cherry reduction, molasses, dark chocolate, coffee bean, grilled raisin, leather and soft spice.
While Merlot is usually considered the most food-friendly of red wines, we believe that Cabernet Franc is the most flexible. Enjoy this wine with a vast array of foods, particularly something challenging like a spicy 3 alarm chili, a ratatouille or Mexican cuisine. Another great choice would be the finest cuts of Wagyu, Kobe or a tender filet!
