Blueberries, dark chocolate and espresso on the nose lead into an intriguing palette of plums, dark cherries and baking spices. With a firm structure for ageabilty and cellaring, this wine displays both juicy and savory notes, and pairs fantastically with food.

Vineyard Notes

Bouchaine’s 100-acre estate vineyard lies on the southern border of Napa Valley’s Carneros district, overlooking the bay with San Francisco in the distance. Fog, wind, and the cold nighttime temperatures of this unique geographical area lend distinctive regional identity to our Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.

Blocks 9 and 10 sit on two sides of a swale in the heart of the Estate. It’s a cold location and they’re always the most frost-susceptible blocks on the entire property. They almost always ripen a few days behind the surrounding blocks.

2013 was an abundant and big-berried vintage. The big berries lead naturally to a lower relation of skins to juice and give this wine a juicy freshness to the fruit character. Pinot Meunier’s typical sweet red fruit and baking spice character are particularly lithe in the 2013.
