Mission Codename Ode to St. Lucia
Our long-term Operatives know that we’re crazy about Hahn wines and we’re over the moon today to be featuring today’s limited-production and limited-release Hahn wine.
Today’s Hahn Family 2013 Lucienne Lone Oak Vineyard Pinot Noir is one special wine! This delicious Pinot is part of the winery’s limited-production, vineyard-designated Lucienne Pinot Noirs from the winery’s estate in the fabled Santa Lucia Highlands of Monterey County.
This clonal selection is the finest Hahn wine we’ve ever reviewed. This fabulous wine is elegant and beautifully balanced, delivering bold aromatics and a lush, flavor-filled palate.
Abundant on the nose, with aromas of stewed cherry, blackberry jam and smoky cherry, with dried wild mushroom, hard clay earth, and subtle spice.
Rich and flavorful, with sweet and savory flavors of cherry compote, smoky blueberry preserve, wild mushroom, forest floor, subtle spice, dried leaves, subtle savory herbs and soft oak.
This wine is drinking beautifully at the moment and it will continue to thrill for the next 5 to 7 years. We hope that you are able to partake of this very special wine!

Here’s what the wine press has to say:
92 points - Antonio Galloni, Vinous - “Brilliant ruby-red. High-pitched aromas of red fruits and Asian spices, with complicating cola and floral nuances. Sweet and silky in texture, offering fresh, spice-tinged raspberry and cherry-cola flavors and a spine of zesty minerality. This very fresh, seamless Pinot finishes with strong cut and smooth tannins that fold quickly into the wine’s intense fruit.”

91 points - James Laube, Wine Spectator - “Very ripe, with smoky oak nuances and a cooked berry edge to the flavors, showing a mix of mocha, black cherry, wild berry and spicy wood notes. The tannins have nice traction. Drink now through 2021.”

91 points - Matt Kettmann, Wine enthusiast - “Clean aromas of honeysuckle converge with richer, rounded components of Asian pear, coconut and pineapple on the nose of this single vineyard expression. There’s a caramel touch at the tip of the rich sip, with layers of brown spice, yellow fruit and rocky earth.”
