Mission Codename Smoky Mountain
When Bugay invited us to raid their cellar, we went straight for the good stuff, their perfectly aged 2008 Les Rocheuses Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is easily the best that we’ve tasted from this Operative-favorite winery. There is so much to love here, from the smoky, dark fruit, to the endless finish.
Incredibly fragrant on the nose, with aromas of spiced cherry, cassis, grilled raisin, plum, dark mixed spice, molasses, dark chocolate, smoky spiced cedar plank, tobacco leaf and black pepper. There is so much happening on the palate with this wine. It leads with flavors of black cherry, blackberry preserve, violet, black rose petal, cassis, smoky molasses, caramel, dark chocolate, smoked cedar and black pepper.
Our whole tasting panel went absolutely bonkers for this rich, fragrant, delicious wine. We were literally arguing over who got the final pour from our sample bottle. We’re just crazy about this wine and we’re thrilled to offer it to you at such a great price. Thank you, Bugay, for offering us special access to your private library. This wine is now one of our favorites.
Earlier this year we featured one of their 2007 wines. In fact, that wine was recognized as our Top Library Selection of 2017. We have the feeling that today’s wine will win our 2018 award.
Enjoy!
