Mission Codename We're Mun-_sold_!
It seems like most of our California weekends have been rainy of late, but that doesn’t stop us from firing up the grill and enjoying our favorite BBQ dishes - along with a capable, worthy Zinfandel.
Today’s delicious Zin hails from our good friends at Munselle Vineyards who have graced us with an allocation of their single vineyard 2012 Osborn Ranch Zinfandel. This wine is bright and juicy, making it a great companion for tangy BBQ, a hearty Italian meal, and your favorite hearty meats.
The Osborn Ranch vineyard is also where Coppola Winery, De Lormier and others source fruit for their higher-end offerings. The ground beneath the Osborn Ranch vineyard consists of two feet of silty loam, with a gravely loam base that serves to drain the soil very thoroughly. This great drainage results in well-nourished and very well balanced vines.
These happy vines make fabulous fruit.
Aromas burst from the glass, led by Blackberry, bramble bush, black cherry, blueberry, sweet spice, cherry candy, toasty oak and a hint strawberry jam.
Bright flavors up front, with Bing cherry, blueberry, raspberry, plum skin and wild strawberry, followed by dark minerals, coffee bean, baker’s chocolate, warm spice, black pepper and cocoa dust.
There isn’t very much of this wine left in the world, so please visit us… soon, before we run out!
