Mission Codename Time Traveller
Today’s Freemark Abbey Winery 2012 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon was crafted by Ted Edwards, Napa’s longest tenured winemaker. This very impressive, age-worthy wine expresses the best qualities of a Napa Valley Cabernet.
Save big today only and be sure to keep enough on hand to last you for the next 20 years.
With a 93 point score from James Suckling and a 91 point score from Robert Parker, you know that you’ll enjoy this incredible wine as much as our whole tasting panel did. We all adore this wine.
This is classic Napa Cabernet aromas of Bold blackberry, black cherry, plum, cassis and dark oak, with pie spice, strawberry compote, cocoa dust, dried fall leaves, twigs, dark chocolate and black pepper.
Soft on entry, then quickly grippy as flavors of Blackberry and plum preserve, dark chocolate, blackberry bramble, tar, dried black rose petals, dark spice, star anise, mission fig and black pepper spread throughout the entire palate.
Drink now or cellar for the next 20 years - or longer. Freemark makes wines that can age for decades.

What the Wine Press has to say:
“The blueberry, walnut, shiitake mushroom and stone aromas are impressive. Full body, chewy tannins and a solid core of fruit. Needs two or three years to resolve the tannins, but excellent. “ - 93 points - James Suckling

“A stunning Cabernet Sauvignon and a classic example of Napa viticulture, this blend of 75.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec, was aged just over two years in oak.
Loads of sweet blackcurrant fruit, cocoa, a touch of toast, earth, and baking spice are all present in this wine that has terrific fruit on the attack and mid-palate, a full-bodied mouthfeel, no hard edges and a luscious, opulent, gorgeously pure style.
Drink it over the next 10-15 years. Although I wouldn’t be surprised to see it last longer.
For old-time reader/subscribers, this might be the modern-day equivalent of the great 1974 Souverain Vintage Selection that I recommended back in the late 1970s and is still going strong today.” - 91 points - Robert Parker, December 2015
