Mission Codename The Three Triumvir
We have another global exclusive for you, today! We are the only wine merchant in the country to be selling the outrageously great Miura Vineyards 2007 Candela Syrah.
This wine is a collaboration between three great friends - who each happen to be wine world superstars. Made from grapes grown in the Syrah vineyard of Luis Castelero, this wine was produced by Emmanuel Kemiji (owner of Miura Vineyards & an internationally renowned Master of Wine) and winemaker Byron Kosuge, who has shepherded nearly 30 successive vintages of wines into our grateful glasses.
Byron has made wines for the likes of Saintsbury, McIntyre Vineyards, Miura Vineyards and his own eponymously named B. Kosuge Wines.
Today’s Syrah is a delicious, dynamic and ever-evolving wine. Take a sip on opening, and then reward yourself by decanting the rest for a couple hours. This helps the wine to realize its fullest potential. And oh, does it reach skyward as it breathes.
On the nose, the wine is very fragrant and very well integrated, exuding dark mixed berry compote, plum, vanilla, dark rose petals, clove, cinnamon, pepper and subtle herbs.
Layers of flavor are presented on the palate, with smoky blackberry jam, braised blueberry, black cherry, cassis and plum infused with cocoa powder, black licorice, star anise, river rock, dried fall leaves and a hint of black pepper.
We purchased every last case of this very highly recommended wine, but it won’t last the entire day…
