Mission Codename The best yet
Today’s Random Ridge 2012 Cabernets Reserve is a delicious, balanced, aromatic beauty of a blend. Made from grower/winemaker Bill Hawley’s Mt. Veeder fruit, this blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Cabernet Franc is a superb wine.
As much as we have adored Bill’s wines over these last eight years, today’s wine is the most exciting we’ve had the pleasure to feature. With the difficult 2011 vintage squarely in its rearview mirror, this wine shines very brightly, thumbing its nose at all previous vintages of the winery’s flagship Cabernets blend. This 2012 is the best Cabernets we’ve tasted.
On the nose, bold aromas leap from the glass, led by Blueberry and blackberry compote, infused with sweet tobacco, cedar, grilled fig, black salt licorice, darkly toasted oak and dark baking spice.
On the palate, the wine bursts with bold flavors of stewed blackberry, blueberry, black cherry and black currant - which meld with dusty bramble, tobacco leaf, European black licorice, cigar box, baking spice, red currant, roasted plum and a hint of flinty minerality.
We hope that you have the opportunity to acquire this great wine - before we sell out…
