Mission Codename 2000 feet
Welcome to our first-ever Super Spy Sunday! Every Sunday, we’ll bring you an elite-level wine - with very special savings. We kick it off today with the 95 point (WE) Stonestreet Wines 2010 Rockfall Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, an elegant, limited-availability wine that will knock your socks off.
This wine hails from the 99 point Napa Cab vintage, reinforcing its designation as a must-have wine. By all means, enjoy a few bottles now - but be sure to lay some down for the next decade or longer.
Aromatic, with dusty black fruit of plum, blackberry and cassis out in front. Just beyond lie aromas of cedar, pine needles, roasted black cherry, subtle savory herbs and hints of baking spice and green peppercorn. Plum and black cherry compote flood the front of the palate. As these flavors settle onto the palate, additional flavors of black currant, red currant, cedar, bramble, slate minerals and green peppercorn follow on.
_“This is an awesome Cabernet, that’s so packed with blackberries and cassis, it blows your mind. The richness is superbly balanced by fine acidity and sweet, complex tannins that rein everything into a focused structure. Feels velvety, refined and ageable. Hold until 2018 and drink it for an additional decade or beyond.” - 95 points - Wine Enthusiast - Steve Heimoff (8/1/2013)
