Mission Codename All horses go to heaven
Today’s Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon hails from the Horse Heaven Hills AVA, from which nearly 25% of the state’s grapes are grown. This sub-appellation is part of the larger Columbia Valley AVA. Located between Yakima Valley on the north and the Columbia River on the south, Horse Heaven Hills spans about 50 miles long and 20 miles wide.
Today’s Double Canyon 2013 Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon grew during what was an uncharacteristically hot year, which contributed to the ripeness and full flavors of this wine. On the nose, the wine exhibits a fullness and complexity that will surprise and delight you. On the palate, flavors are full, balanced and bold.
At under $20, today’s food-friendly wine is a great value. Be sure to keep some on hand for your summertime BBQs.
