Mission Codename New Heights
Today’s *Climber is the winery’s delicious flagship Bordeaux style blend. They make a new one each year, each with its own unique varietal blend, from select vineyards in the Napa Valley. Today’s 2011 blend is 58% Merlot from Atlas Peak and 42% Cabernet Sauvignon from the winery’s Howell Mountain Cold Springs Estate Vineyard. This wine is richly layered, balanced and delicious.
On the nose, sweet red raspberry, cherry, dried cranberry and chocolate cherry cordial are followed by hints of dusty blackberry bramble, fennel frond, sweet spice and pencil shavings. This wine is delicious, dark and bold on the palate, with black fruit reduction of plum, blackberry and black cherry with follow on flavors of cassis, cigar box, toasty oak and a hint of savory dried meat.
The Climber has really grown up over the years and today’s 2011 vintage is the finest and most mature that we have tasted.
We purchased every available case of this great wine, but we expect it to sell out… Don’t miss out on this really delicious, balanced wine.
