Mission Codename Williams Selyem Jr.
The excellent 2012 vintage in northern California yielded fruit that succeeded across the board in its delivery of superb varietal character and high quality. Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir may get overshadowed by the Russian River Valley in terms of acclaim, but winemakers and hardcore Pinot Noir enthusiasts know the deal - the true Sonoma Coast contains vineyards that are second to none. Great winemakers know what vineyards have great fruit, and Williams Selyem alum Dan Fitzgerald continues to impress us with his mastery of winemaking.
The 2012 Matias Pinot Noir could easily win head-to-head tastings with way more expensive bottles. With its gorgeous nose and impeccable balance, it’s pretty hard to resist.
A must buy for anyone with a thing for Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.
