Complex aromas of licorice, rosewater, jasmine tea, rhubarb pie, savory mushrooms, and sassafras entice the nose. Candied strawberry, cherry-cola and vanilla bean are complimented by a brilliant acidity and a juicy lingering finish. This wine is barrel aged for 9 months in French oak; 40% new, 30% once used and 30% neutral barrel. Fruit comes from the heart of the Green Valley and our Floodgate property a few miles southeast of the winery.
91 Point Review - Sommelier & Wine Critic Chris Sawyer Rarely do you find a winery named after a winemaker. Even more rare is when you find out the winemaker who is one of those talented young darlings of the female persuasion. One of those amazing focal points is Virginia Marie Lambrix, the talented winemaker at VML, one of the fantastic new Pinot Noir houses of Russian River Valley.
The new release of the 2012 Pinot Noir is loaded with aromas and flavors of wild strawberry, cherry, plum, nectarine, cola, licorice, and savory spices. Add on a few extra earthy notes, bright acidity, and a finish that keeps getting better with more time in the glass. In the end, the talent shows and makes you feel like you got to know this brand long before your friends did. Game on!
