The 2012 “Vigneto di Evo” Zinfandel has vibrant aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry and strawberry. The palate is fairly firm on entry with bright red cherry, notes of nectarine skin and spicy plum on the finish.
Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
“One of the oldest and most historically significant vineyard owners and wine producers in Northern California is the large Martinelli family that cultivates over 350 acres. Moreover, they have been farming grapes since the late 1800s! Remarkably, 90% or more of their entire production is sold off to other wineries….The pleasure police will no doubt moan and whine, but believe it or not, the fruit in these wines hides the incredible alcoholic clout. If you taste these wines with an open mind, you will see exactly what I mean.” Dec 2014
On Martinelli: “represents California’s most profound expression of this varietal. Quantities are limited, but this wine demonstrates what can be achieved when terrific wine-making is combined with old vines, low yields, and very ripe fruit. California’s most profound expression of this varietal.”
