Mission Codename Thirdsies
The Seghesio Family just knows how to make great wine. Time after time we find ourselves pleasantly surprised by their offerings. And what we really love about them is their tendency to get a little funky with their blends.
For today’s 2008 Defiant Red Blend, the unique twist comes in the addition of Aglianico to a blend of their estate Cab and Syrah. Aglianico, a noble Italian varietal, is best known for producing wines of bold flavor, grippy tannin, and high acidity. These characteristics are clearly present in today’s blend, with the added structure and acidity from the Aglianico turning a fine blend into something extraordinary. Just be sure to decant this monster of a wine! Give it a little time in the glass and you’ll be richly rewarded with one of the best and most intriguing blends around.
Today’s wine drinks beautifully now, but we think it will age into something otherworldly after a few years. Enjoy!
